Description

The combination of wide images and the use of an anamorphic projector lens can lead to pincushion distortion. This phenomenon can cause the image to look flat or pinched at the centre of the screen and appear higher towards the corners of the screen.

Using a curved screen creates the feeling of being surrounded by the image and helps eliminate the pincushion effect. A curved screen also improves the perceived image uniformity by reflecting the projected light to the viewer, including light at the edges of the screen, which on a standard screen is reflected away from the viewer.
