Klipsch RF-7III Floorstanding Speakers Pair
Description
Take your music & home theatre experience higher with the Klipsch Reference RF-7 III floor-standing speaker. It's the flagship speaker of the Reference line, and it uses patented Klipsch technology to deliver rich, dynamic sound with sparkling highs and thrilling, full-bodied bass.
Overview
This floor-standing model is the flagship of Klipsch's Reference Series and although not cheap delivers a lot of high-performance sound for the price and it does this by using Klipsch's advanced technologies and world-class materials. Each speaker box employs dual 250mm (10") woofers and a 44mm (1.75") titanium diaphragm compression driver loaded with a square Tractrix Horn, inside a bass reflex enclosure. As the flagship model they will bring out the power, detail and emotion from your music, movies, or video games.
Klipsch makes its cones out of specially treated aluminium that's strong yet lightweight to dampen and prevent distortion. With the Reference Series, Klipsch also gave these woofers a newly developed titanium voice coil former that allows more linear movement for enhanced efficiency, lower distortion and extended low frequency response. Look around the back, and you'll see dual rear-firing ports to help eliminate turbulence noise. They can handle up to 250 Watts RMS and 1000 Watts of peak power so will work really well in large rooms. The question is whether your amplifier has the "horsepower" to keep up!
90°x 90°Hybrid Tractrix Horns
A Tractrix Horn utilises a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. With their Series III speakers, Klipsch has redesigned the shape and slope of their famous horn enclosure, so your movie soundtracks and music will sound more "open," with improved dynamics and efficiency. The Tractrix Horn delivers a 90-degree wide by 90-degree high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. The compressed moulded rubber construction adds high frequency damping to reduce harshness and improve detail. This creates the cleanest, most natural sound possible.
Titanium Diaphragm Compression Driver
Behind the Tractrix Horn lies a new 44mm (1.75") titanium driver with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound. The Linear Travel Suspension minimises distortion for enhanced, detailed performance. It now features a new phase plug design to improve phase coherency at the throat of the horn, resulting in improved sound pressure linearity at high frequencies.
Cerametallic Woofers
The dual 250mm (10") woofers of the RF-7 III floor-standing loudspeaker features Klipsch's distinctive, copper-coloured Cerametallic material. Made with an anodised aluminium, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodising process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range the woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability.
Crossover Network
The Klipsch RF-7 III's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration. The speaker's enhanced crossover frequency offer smoother on-axis and off-axis integration.
Bass Reflex MDF Enclosure
The Klipsch RF-7 III employs a bass reflex enclosure with dual rear-firing ports for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. Utilising Tractrix geometry, the all new Reference III bass port allows for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet for a clean, powerful low frequency response. The ported enclosure features an MDF cabinet finished with a premium wood-grain polymer veneer and a polymer front baffle. The speaker's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimise panel vibrations that can colour sound.
Binding Post Terminals
The speaker offers dual binding post terminals which are connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire these speakers. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs, spade-connectors and bare wire.
